The existing Monterey Regional Airport (MRY) terminal was outdated and did not reflect the unique environment in which it was located. I led the design effort for a comprehensive wayfinding system for the airport, both exterior and interior signage programs.
Our intent conceptually was to reflect the Monterey landscape and locally sourced materials that make the city so unique, along with its proximity to the coast. Inspired by reflection and the beautiful waters of the West Coast, we implemented glass signage to literally reflect the timber beams of the space and provide a sleek, clear wayfinding journey from arrival to departure.
This project is set to be complete and operational in 2028.
